Collection: Ropes

The rope is one of the five rhythmic gymnastics apparatuses, made of polyester, nylon or other synthetic materials, and available at Indigo in two lengths, 2.5 and 3 metres, in plain, weighted or lurex versions.

To choose the right length, take the gymnast's height into account: when folded in half, it should reach the shoulders, or, when fully stretched and held with both hands, it should reach armpit height. In addition, the rope can be cut to suit each need.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Rope: Styles and Finishes

If you're looking for a rhythmic gymnastics rope for training or competition, this collection has designs for every taste: two-tone, three-tone, multicolor, rainbow and versions with lurex for extra sparkle in the routine.

The weighted 3 m ropes weigh 165 g, and there is also a weighted 150 g rope in 2.5 m. If you prefer a little more weight, there are 180 g ropes in 3 m. With so many options, the key is knowing what each gymnast needs.

How to Choose Your Rhythmic Gymnastics Rope

  • Length: choose between 2.5 m and 3 m depending on the gymnast's height. If the rope is too long, you can trim it.
  • Weight: compare the 150 g, 165 g and 180 g options available and talk with her coach about which suits her level best.
  • Finish: decide whether you want it plain, weighted or with lurex, depending on the effect you want in the routine.
  • Colors: match it with the leotard or the rest of the apparatus for a coordinated look.
  • Questions: in our guide How to Choose Your Rhythmic Gymnastics Rope you'll find more details to help you decide with confidence.

If you're completing your equipment, also take a look at the rhythmic gymnastics hoops and the clubs. That way you can match colors and styles with your favorite rhythmic gymnastics ropes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure and cut a rhythmic gymnastics rope to fit the gymnast?

Stand on the middle of the rope with both feet and hold the ends in your hands. The handles or knots should reach armpit height. Mark the excess before cutting, and leave a small margin so you can retie the end knot. It's better to cut a little at a time than to cut too much.

What is the 150 g, 2.5 m weighted rope for, and when should it be used?

It's a heavy rope designed for systematic training. We recommend using it only after about 30-40 minutes of continuous jumping with a regular rope. Check with the coach about how to include it in the routine. It's available in plain, lurex and multicolor versions.

What's the difference between the 180 g rope, the KRISTI and the nylon weighted ropes?

The 165 g weighted ropes are made of nylon and hold their path well when thrown. The 180 g rope has a soft polyamide core. The 180 g KRISTI is modeled on the SASAKI and is similar in stiffness, weave and material, so it keeps its shape well in flight.

How do I take care of the rope so it lasts longer and doesn't tangle?

After training, store it loose or loosely coiled, with no knots or sharp creases. Avoid dragging it across rough or dirty floors, because friction damages the fabric and the colors. If it gets dirty, wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and let it dry completely before putting it away.

Can a beginner practice with the rope at home?

Yes, these ropes are suitable for both beginners and experienced gymnasts. At home, look for a clear space with a smooth floor and enough ceiling height to swing and throw without hitting furniture or light fixtures. If this is your first rope, start with basic jumps and swings before moving on to throws.
